Troubleshooting
Cannot export or save a clip
Export from the recorder's playback screen: select the channel, set the start and end time, choose a USB drive and export. Most recorders save in a proprietary format that needs their player, so export the player alongside the clip if you are giving it to anyone else.
Use a small USB drive
Recorders are often fussy about large or oddly formatted drives. A plain 8 to 32 GB stick formatted FAT32 works most reliably.
Export the player too
Proprietary formats will not open on a normal computer without the manufacturer's player. Most recorders offer to copy it alongside the clip — take the option.
Export before overwrite
Once the drive loops, the footage is gone. If something matters, export it the same day rather than intending to later.
How do I export CCTV footage?
Can you export footage for me?
Yes, and we do it regularly for insurance and police matters. Tell us the date and approximate time and we will pull it and provide it in a usable format.
What if the footage has already been overwritten?
Then it is generally gone. This is the single strongest argument for sizing storage to how long it takes you to notice a problem, rather than to the smallest drive that fits.
Need this doing?
Security camera repair covers cameras showing no image, recorders that stopped recording, footage you cannot retrieve, and systems that lost remote viewing. Most faults are power, cable or configuration rather than a failed camera. Diagnosis is free, and we quote a fixed price before doing any work.
