A token system replaces the crowd, not the staff
Anywhere people currently stand at a counter and argue about who was first — a clinic, a bank, a NADRA-style office, a busy pharmacy — a token system turns the crowd into a seated queue and gives you the one number you never had: how long people actually wait. Here is the same morning, twice.

The four parts of the system
The dispenser
A button or touch kiosk at the door that prints a numbered ticket. One service or several — a bank can issue different tokens for deposits and account opening, and the software routes each to the right counter.
The displays
A central board showing now-serving, and a small display at each counter. LED boards survive sunlight through the front window; indoor screens do not, which is why we look before we quote.
The calling unit
A keypad or software button at each counter. Staff press next; the board and the announcement do the rest. Recall, transfer to another counter and no-show handling are one key each.
The reports
Tokens served, waits and peaks, per counter and per hour. This is the part owners end up valuing most, because it turns staffing from a guess into arithmetic.
Who it pays for itself in
Banks and microfinance branches, where a calm banking hall is a compliance matter as much as a courtesy. Clinics and hospital OPDs, where the nurses stop shouting names down a corridor. Government counters, where the token removes the argument the counter clerk used to referee. And busy pharmacies at peak hours, where the till queue and the prescription queue stop being the same crowd. If your counter never has more than two people at it, you do not need this — and we will say so at the survey.
Queue system questions
- What does a token system cost?
- A single-counter clinic setup — ticket dispenser, one counter display, calling software and installation — typically starts around PKR 150,000. A multi-counter bank branch with a central display and reporting runs well beyond that, and is quoted per site after we count counters and walk the floor.
- Can it announce tokens in Urdu?
- Yes. Voice announcements run in Urdu, English or both, and the display shows the token number either way. In a clinic the announcement matters more than the screen — patients listen, attendants watch.
- What happens when the power goes?
- The system rides through on the same UPS that should already be protecting your counters, and we size that as part of the job. Numbers are not lost in an outage; the queue resumes where it stopped, which is precisely the moment you least want to restart it from one.
- Does it work if my patients are not comfortable with machines?
- The dispenser has one button. In practice the attendant presses it for the first week, patients copy what they see, and by the second week the machine needs no explaining. We stay for the first morning to help it settle in.
