Find your symptom
What the unit is doing usually narrows the cause to one or two things. Below is what we actually find behind each symptom and what it typically costs to put right. Diagnosis is free and the price is agreed before anything is opened.
Runs but does not cool
Usually
Low gas from a leak, or coils and filters so clogged air cannot pass
Most common call we get. Cleaning fixes a good share of them outright.
Typical cost
PKR 3,500 – 12,000
Outdoor unit does not start
Usually
Failed capacitor, contactor, or the fan motor seized
A capacitor is a small cheap part and one of the most satisfying fixes in the trade.
Typical cost
PKR 3,000 – 9,000
Water dripping inside the room
Usually
Blocked drain line, or the indoor unit is not level
Almost always the drain. Rarely serious, always annoying.
Typical cost
PKR 2,500 – 5,000
Cools then stops, cools then stops
Usually
Overheating outdoor unit, low gas, or a failing thermostat
Check the outdoor unit is not boxed in or standing in full afternoon sun.
Typical cost
PKR 3,500 – 15,000
Loud noise or vibration
Usually
Fan blade fouling, loose mounting, or failing compressor bearings
A new rattle is cheap. A new deep hum from the compressor usually is not.
Typical cost
PKR 2,500 – 20,000
Ice on the pipes
Usually
Low gas or restricted airflow across the indoor coil
Switch it off and let it thaw before anyone looks at it.
Typical cost
PKR 4,000 – 14,000
Trips the breaker
Usually
Compressor drawing hard, damaged wiring, or an undersized circuit
The one on this list to stop using until it has been looked at.
Typical cost
Diagnosis first — do not keep resetting
Remote works, unit ignores it
Usually
Indoor control board or the receiver
Test with a phone camera — the remote's LED shows on camera if it is transmitting.
Typical cost
PKR 6,000 – 18,000
Diagnosis is free
You pay nothing to find out what is wrong. Given how many of these turn out to be a cheap part, that matters.
Fixed price first
Agreed before anything is opened. No call halfway through the job asking for more.
We say when not to repair
If the fix costs more than the unit is worth, we tell you and we do not take the job.
Repair questions
- How much does AC repair cost?
- Diagnosis is free. Most common faults — capacitor, drain blockage, fan motor, thermostat — sit between PKR 3,000 and 15,000 fitted. Compressor replacement is the expensive one and is frequently the point at which replacing the unit makes more sense.
- Is it worth repairing an old air conditioner?
- Up to a point. A ten-year-old unit needing a compressor is usually not worth it; the same unit needing a capacitor or a fan motor certainly is. We tell you which case you are in before doing anything, and we will say when replacement is the better spend.
- How fast can you come out in summer?
- Same day in Talagang in most cases, next working day across Chakwal. Through the hottest weeks everyone in this trade is stretched, which is the real argument for a service in March rather than a callout in June.
