PTZ camera price
A PTZ camera costs several times a fixed camera, plus a heavier mount and often its own power run. For most shops it is not the right spend. For a mill yard, a society gate or a large compound it can be, alongside fixed cameras rather than instead of them.
The mount costs too
A PTZ needs a substantial bracket or pole, and often a dedicated supply. Those add meaningfully to the installed price and are frequently left out of quotes.
Only worth it with fixed cameras
A PTZ records only where it points. Buying one instead of covering the ground with fixed cameras is how sites miss things.
Where it earns the money
Large open areas you want to follow movement across — yards, compounds, society entrances. Not a shop floor.
How much does a PTZ camera cost?
Is one PTZ cheaper than several fixed cameras?
The camera might be, the coverage is not. A PTZ watching north records nothing to the south. Compare it against what continuous coverage actually requires.
Can a PTZ follow people automatically?
Better models can. It works well in an empty yard at night and badly on a busy forecourt, where it chases every customer.
