Solar CCTV cost
A solar camera setup costs more than a mains camera because of the panel, battery, charge controller and mounting. It is worth it where running power would cost more — remote gates, tube wells and boundaries. Sizing for winter rather than summer is what determines whether it works.
The battery is the expensive part
Sized for three to five days of autonomy so a cloudy week does not take it down. Undersizing here is the most common way solar CCTV disappoints.
Low-power cameras only
A solar setup cannot carry a PTZ with long-range illuminators. Fixed cameras recording on motion are what actually works.
Compare against a cable run
If mains is fifty metres away, a cable may be cheaper. If it is five hundred metres away across someone else's land, solar wins easily.

How long will it run without sun?
Three to five days if sized properly. We size for the darkest realistic stretch rather than the average, which is why our quotes are sometimes higher than others.
Will the panel get stolen?
It is worth more than the camera to a thief. Mount it high, fix it properly, and keep a camera covering it — all of which we allow for in the quote.
