IP camera system cost
A four-channel 4MP IP system with a network recorder, PoE switch, storage, Cat6 cabling and installation starts around PKR 95,000. Cost per additional camera falls once the switch and recorder are in place, which is why IP suits systems likely to grow.
The switch and recorder carry the cost
Most of the premium sits in the network recorder and the PoE switch. Once those are in, each extra camera is comparatively cheap.
Cable is cheaper to install
One Cat6 run per camera instead of coax plus power. On a long run that saves more in labour than the equipment costs extra.
Storage rises with resolution
4MP needs roughly twice the storage of 2MP for the same retention. Budget the drive accordingly rather than being surprised later.
How much do IP cameras cost?
Is IP worth it for four cameras?
For a small shop with short runs, often not — good analogue does the job for less. For long runs or likely expansion, yes, even at four.
Can I start with four and grow to eight?
That is exactly where IP makes sense. Fit an eight-port switch and an eight-channel recorder from the start and adding cameras later is just a cable run.
