CCTV vs hiring a security guard
A camera system costs roughly what a few months of one guard's salary costs, then runs for years on maintenance alone. A guard can intervene; cameras cannot. For most shops and homes here, cameras give better value; for high-value sites, guards supported by cameras work better than either alone.

Challenge someone, respond immediately, and be present as a visible deterrent that cannot be spray-painted over. For high-value or high-risk sites that matters.

A guard with cameras covering the areas he cannot see, and a phone alert when a boundary is crossed, does the work of several. That is the usual answer for mills and yards.
Is CCTV cheaper than a guard?
Can cameras replace a night guard?
For a locked shop, often yes, especially with alarm integration and remote viewing. For an open yard with stock lying outside, no — you need someone able to respond.
Do cameras reduce insurance cost?
It depends on your insurer and policy. It is worth asking them directly before you buy, because some will recognise a monitored system and others will not.
